National Library Week: April 11 - 18

National Library Week, April 11th – 18th, is a time to celebrate the contributions of libraries, librarians and library workers in schools, campuses and communities nationwide – and the perfect time to connect to the world @ your library.

The Destin Library will celebrate National Library Week by asking patrons to submit their all-time favorite authors or book titles. The tally of ballots submitted will be announced April 17th.

“Every day libraries in cities, small towns, colleges, schools and in businesses help transform their communities,” says Jurate Burns, Director of the Destin Library. “At our library, people of all backgrounds can come together for community meetings, lectures and programs, to do research, to look for a job or check out books, DVD’s, books on tape or read area newspapers”, Burns says.

First celebrated in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
