Foreign Film - November 17th

The Friends Guild of the Destin Library will sponsor a monthly movie night featuring an award winning independent and foreign film on designated evenings at 7:00pm. The next movie night date is November 17th. The program is free and open to the public. Films are unrated and directed toward mature audiences. Seating will be limited to 60 on a first-come, first-served basis.

Date: Tuesday, November 17th, 2009 (7:00 pm)
Movie Title: Ben X (93 minutes) (Flemish with English subtitles)
Director: Nic Balthazar
Synopsis: Ben is a bit different. His life is full of strange tiruals, and a mild form of autism prevents normal communication with others. As a result, he often seems to be living in another universe – while he is a courageous hero in the computer gaming world that consumes him, Ben is tormented by classmates and ignored by apathetic teachers in his daily life. As the bullies’ relentless attacks push him over the edge and out of control, his online dream girl, Scarlite, steps in to help him devise a perfect plan to make them pay for their persecution. Balthazar’s dazzling debut blends fantasy and harsh social realism to bring us an utterly original and important film.
