The Destin Library will feature a wood carving exhibit by winter visitor Gordon Haughton between January 14th and February 11th. Exhibits on display include pieces titled “Suggy”, “Sea Captain”, as well as carvings of an Egret and an Indian Head. Examples of both relief and round relief carving will be on display.
Haughton, who hails from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, learned his skill at the Destin Community Center (Carving Club) under the tutelage of Fred Cuddy and Wayne Bleith.
Gordon Haughton will be available to discuss his work with interested patrons on Tuesday, January 20th, at 2:00 PM at the library.
Individuals interested in learning the craft of wood carving are encouraged to attend the local wood carving workshop at the Destin Community Center (654-5184) on Fridays between the hours of 9:00 AM and 12 Noon. A nominal fee is charged for this workshop.
