Local Children's Author at Library on October 24th

The Destin Library will host a children’s program with local author Barbara Marunowski on Saturday, October 24th, at 10:00 am in the Calhoun Room. The program is free and open to the public. Marunowski will read her book My Cow Book featuring the characters Mikey and Markey Moo. Following the reading a children’s craft activity, featuring the characters from the story, will be held. The program will conclude with a question and answer session with the author. Copies of the author’s book will be available for sale at this program.

Barbara Marunowski, a local business owner, was born in Colorado and grew up in Arizona. Her love for poetry and short stories was inspired by her life growing up in the great outdoors of the southwest United States. Her interest in writing was encouraged by her father who had given her a book at an early age about writing for children.

Many years later her now grown twin sons encouraged her to finally write a children’s book. They suggested that the book be based on a story she had told them during one of their long family vacations … “where cows came from”. Marunowski’s book My Cow Book is an out-growth of her sons’ suggestion.

Further information about the program or the author is available at the library (837-8572).
