Local Artists Show at Destin Library


An art show featuring local artists will be on display at the Destin Library between January 26th, and March 4th. The display is open to the public during library hours.

The show will provide an opportunity for residents to view art from some of the finest artists in the area. Mediums on display include pastel, oil, acrylic and watercolor. Subject matter will include landscapes, still life, wildlife, sailing vessels, flowers, beach scenes, portraits, and more.



Local artists participating in the show include:

Brad Greek – Mary Esther
Cris Chester – Shalimar
Jan Kubaki - Destin
Mara Viksnins – Destin
Rebecca Hart – Santa Rosa Beach
Terry Long – Destin

Destin Library Director Jurate Burns notes that “the Destin community is enriched by these artists and the library is proud to exhibit their work.”

A reception to honor participating artist will be held on Friday, February 13th, 2009, at 11:00 AM in the library’s Calhoun Room.

Actress/Author at Destin Library


The Friends Guild of the Destin Library will sponsor a presentation by actress and author Norma Hubbard, on Friday, February 13th, 2009 at 10:00 AM in the Calhoun Room at the library center. The event is free and open to the public.
Norma Hubbard was born, reared and educated in New Orleans. Since 1967 she has been living in Panama City, Florida.
Ms. Hubbard is a southern writer who also performs a one-woman act. Her performance, on February 13th, will be a tribute to General George Washington in honor of this President’s birthday during the month of February.
